The restoration work on our lighthouse has been recently completed, preserving its historic charm and ensuring its longevity as a vital marine safety aid and a culturally significant tourist drawcard. The restoration process was an intricate one, undertaken by specialist engineers and trades who meticulously worked to bring the lighthouse back to its former glory. They removed all external and internal paint to reveal the original limestone, painstakingly restoring the lighthouse to its authentic state.

Inside, the internal stairs and landings were removed, restored, and reinstalled, ensuring that visitors can safely ascend to the top. The electrical system was updated to support the lighthouse’s essential functions, and the balcony, a crucial lookout point for keepers and a favored spot for tourists, was reinforced and strengthened. Throughout the restoration, a temporary light was installed to maintain the lighthouse’s signal, ensuring the safety of passing ships even as work was underway.

With the restoration now complete, tours are running again, allowing visitors to climb the tower and see the completely restored lighthouse up close. This monumental effort not only preserved an important piece of maritime history but also enhanced the visitor experience, making it possible for future generations to appreciate this historic landmark.
